New Seasons reimagines the idea of the seasons for a contemporary world shaped by geography and climate. Where classical tradition often portrayed the seasons as a soloist set against an orchestra, Duo Mantar explores them as chamber music—an equal dialogue between mandolin and guitar.
The project invites composers to ask how seasons are experienced today and how they differ across places: how does summer feel in Porto, in Israel, or in Argentina? Through newly commissioned works and reimaginings of historical models, New Seasons presents a global, modern perspective on seasonal change.
The program features new works by Avner Dorman, Aziza Sadikova, and Hamilton de Holanda, alongside Duo Mantar’s reworkings of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, Piazzolla’s The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires, and a contemporary response to Vivaldi by Curtis Stewart.
