To truly advance an instrument, one must access a general audience. Performing with orchestra is an entre to a diverse audience that can change perceptions of music styles and instruments. Duo Mantar’s mission to commission large scale works for mandolin, guitar and orchestra represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be mavericks in the music field. With these new commissions Duo Mantar will increase awareness of Israeli classical music, create a new body of concerti for their instrumental combination that previously never existed and, finally, promote their combination among a general music audience. They will premiere these three extraordinary works by Cojocaru, Dorman, and Rosenbaum in 2022 and 2023.
